The day after the 120th Anniversary in Milwaukee wrapped up, I got a call from my coworker, Andy Jensen, asking if I could make it out to Elkhorn in the next hour. I quickly gathered some camera gear and tossed it on my bike to rip out there.

Kyle Wyman was about to take his old XR750 out on the track after it had been in hibernation for many years. Wes Orloff, an engineer at the Motor Company and crew chief on the factory race team, had refurbished it for him and gave it a special new coat of paint. Upon arriving I could feel the energy and excitement that everyone had to witness this take place. Just two laps to get a feel for the ol’ bike and the loose surface, then full pin for the rest of the evening. Cody, Kyle’s younger brother, was also there to get in a few laps.

Willie G. and Karen Davidson showed up along with a few fans that were paying close attention to Kyle’s social media. It was fun to see Kyle’s excitement but even more so Willie’s. He told stories about coming to this track as a youngster on his Knucklehead Chopper and about how the sound of this bike brought him back to that time period. It’s inspiring to see the level of excitement that Willie still has after all these years, and I’m sure Kyle is still smiling about this so many days later, as well. What a beautiful end to the amazing event that was the 120th Anniversary.
